Oculus just announced pricing for its Oculus Rift VR headset, and it comes in at a whopping $599 US. Sure, we didn’t expect it to come cheap, but there you go.
Assuming they don’t jack up the price in Canada, that amounts to about $950 tax included. Hope you saved up…
The Rift comes bundled with the VR headset, a head tracking thingy, an Xbox One Controller, and some sort of remote control thing (I don’t know the proper names of these things because I’ll never afford one anyway).
If you recall, Oculus Rift started out as a Kickstarter project, that was then bought up by Facebook. We’re still unsure whether you’ll get to like your friends’ banal Facebook posts using the Rift, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
But don’t fret, Kickstarter backers – you won’t be left out cold. According to their Kickstarter page:
As a small token of our appreciation for your support, all Kickstarter backers who pledged for a Rift development kit will get a free Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift! And like all Rift pre-order purchasers, you’ll receive a bundled copy of Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyrie.
Yay… now let’s party!
